TheDB280canbesettorunautomaticallyormanually.WheninAutomode,
thefullbenefitsoftheDB280canberealizedthroughtheautomationofthe
clamping,release,nippingandbindingfunctionswithminimaluser
interventionandmaximumproductivity.
ManualBinding
(recommendedforthefirstbind)
Ensure“Manual”isselected(thisisthedefaultsetting).
PressOpen.Placethepagesintheclamp.
PressClose.
PressStart.Theclampmovestotheleftand isnotchedonceacrossthespine.
Placeandcenterthecoverinthenippingstation.
PressStart.The
clampbeginstoreturntothenippingstationandisnotcheda
secondtime.Theglueisthenapplied.Atthenippingstation,thecoveris
pressedontothebookblock.
PressOpen.When“Ready”isdisplayed,theoperatorpresses“Open”toopen
theclampandremovethebook.

Assumingthefirstbindhasbeenprocessedmanuallyasabove.
Ensure“Automatic”isselected.(NotchingwillautomaticallybeturnedON.)
Placethepagesintheclamp.
Theclampclosesautomaticallyandmovesleftandisnotchedonceinthe
process.
Placeandcenter
thecoverinthenippingstation.(Note:Theclampstation
remainsontheleftsideuntilthecoverisinplace.Thisisdeterminedbythecover
sensorbeingcovered.
Theclampthenbeginstomovebacktotherightandisnotchedasecondtime.
Thentheglueis
appliedtothespineandthecoveristhenpressedontotheblock
inthenippingstation.
TheDB280clampopensautomaticallyfortheremovalofthebookandwaitsfor
theinsertionofthenextunboundbookblock.
Eithersoftorhardcoverscanbeloaded
ontothenippingstation.Oncethecover
iscentered,theclampholdingthebook
blockreturnstothenippingstation,the
coverisapplied,andthespineisformed.
